The COVID-19 pandemic, also known as the coronavirus pandemic, is an ongoing global pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
The virus was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. The World Health Organization declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern regarding COVID-19 on 30 January 2020, and later declared a pandemic on 11 March 2020. As of 24 May 2021, more than 167 million cases have been confirmed, with more than 3.46 million confirmed deaths attributed to COVID-19, making it one of the deadliest pandemics in history.
Our goverment on May 2020 inaugurated two more pandemic hospitals in Istanbul, the country’s most populous and worst-hit city by the coronavirus outbreak.
One of them; Built over a total area of 125,000 square meters (1.35 million square feet) with a bed capacity of 1,008 of which 432 are intensive care units (ICU), the Professor Murat Dilmener Emergency Hospital was named to honor the late professor who died on May 3 after contracting the coronavirus.
Born in Istanbul in 1942, Dilmener graduated from Istanbul Cerrahpaşa Medical faculty where he continued to practice and teach long after he graduated. The 78-year-old was called “the teacher of teachers” by the health minister as he unveiled the hospitals’ names.
The construction of the Professor Murat Dilmener Emergency Hospital was completed in 45 days. We supported this hospital, preparing 18 exhaust systems for generators used in buildings. Our R&D team prepared designs and drawings in very short time and pass the Project to Production department. In total 2 weeks, we prepared systems and sent them on time to be mounted on the generators in the hospital.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we continued our design and support production to all sectors in need. By taking the necessary health measures our production continues in 2 shifts. Especially, we continued to support vital sectors like the food, transportation and health sector.
